Georgia Undertakes Chairmanship of CIS Interior Ministerial Council from   Azerbaijan

Georgia, Batumi, 28 June / Trend corr N.Kirtskhalia/ On 28 June, Georgia has undertaken chairmanship of the CIS Interior Ministers' Committee from Azerbaijan at a meeting in Batumi.

Azerbaijani Interior Minister Ramil Usubov said at the meeting that he was passing the chairmanship to his Georgian counterpart Vano Merabishvili and was confident that Georgia would contribute in joint struggle against crimes.

The Council is discussing cybercrimes. It is planned to create a permanent hot ministerial line on struggle against virtual crimes.

The Ministers will also consider how to improve efficiency in counteraction to new challenges and threats, including struggle against IT crimes. For better coordination of efforts, Interior Ministries' law-enforcement bodies will be able to exchange information faster. A website of the Council will be opened.
