Russian Troops Not Yet Leave Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, 22 August / Trend corr. N.Kirtzkhalia / The Russian Defense Minister's promise to withdraw troops from Georgia is not being carried out. At 9.00AM Russia withdrew its troops neither from Eastern Georgia - Gori and its suburbs, nor from Western Georgia - Samegrelo region, where all hugest cities are under control of the Russian troops.

On 22 August, all Russian units will begin to leave Georgia for South Ossetia, Anatoliy Serdukov, the Russian Minister of Defense said on 20 August.

"In accordance with the decree of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, at 6.00AM on 22 August, all Russian military units, belonging to the peacekeeper contingent in the Georgian and South Ossetia conflict zone, will begin to leave the Georgian territory to South Ossetia," Serdukov said.

All Russian units will leave the Georgian territory within a day, he said.
