Leader of Alliance for Georgia debates assistance to Georgia in U.S.

Georgia, Tbilisi, June 17 / Trend , N. Kirtskhalia/ Assistance to Georgia was debated by Alliance for Georgia's leader Irakli Alasaniya and U.S. assistant secretary of defense Alexander Vershbow in the U.S.

Washington reiterated its readiness to assist with modernizing Georgian army as a part of the Strategic Partnership Charter between the U.S. and Georgia.

The sides also discussed regional security and situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, press service of the Alliance for Georgia said.  

During his visit to the United States Alasania also met with the Department of State coordinator of assistance to Europe and Eurasia Daniel Rosenblum. The sides discussed financial assistance that the United States will increase to promote democratic institutions in Georgia.

The meeting mainly focused on internal political situation in the country.

Alasania discussed political crisis in the country also with Senator Jack Reed.
