President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Saturday George Friedman, founder and Chief Executive Officer of private intelligence corporation Stratfor, Azerbaijani President's official website reported.
The Head of State expressed satisfaction with Friedman`s next visit to Azerbaijan.
Friedman presented his book entitled "Next Decade" to the Azerbaijani President. Opinions about Azerbaijan`s leading role in the region on changes in the global world are reflected in the book. Friedman noted as part of his trip to Azerbaijan he would visit Nakhchivan to familiarize the ongoing social and economic projects in the Autonomous Republic.
President Ilham Aliyev said Nakhchivan was one of Azerbaijan`s oldest regions. The Head of State pointed out all these areas were historically inhabited by Azerbaijanis, but Zangazur region was granted to Armenia and Nakhchivan was separated from Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev said huge investments were made in Nakhchivan with important social and infrastructure projects being realized in the Autonomous Republic.
The Head of State expressed hope that Friedman`s visit to Nakhchivan would be interesting.
They exchanged views on bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, regional issues, geopolitical situation, energy cooperation and other matters.
