A Joint Action Plan to ensure the security of state borders in 2012 was adopted by participants of the 65th meeting of the Council of the CIS member states' Border Troops Commanders in Ashgabat on Thursday, ITAR-TASS reported.

The meeting discussed information exchange, combating drug trafficking, illegal migrations and transnational armed groups. It was chaired by the Head of Russian FSB Border Guard Service Vladimir Pronichev.

The Council stressed the positive experience of Turkmenistan, whose borders "ensure a reliable barrier to drug trafficking, any manifestation of extremism and terrorism and present global threats", by awarding the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov an insignia "For strengthening of the CIS member states' borders".
