Azerbaijan from the very beginning of this disease, of this crisis took very proactive steps both domestically and internationally, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said while delivering speech at the opening ceremony of the VIII Global Baku Forum under the motto "The world after COVID-19”, Trend reports.
"First, of course, the pandemic, because it’s now the issue number one on global agenda. We talk about the pandemic, some talk about the post-pandemic period. It’s not very clear whether we are already in the past pandemic period, because different countries address differently this issue. I would like to inform you that Azerbaijan from the very beginning of this disease, of this crisis took very proactive steps both domestically and internationally. We started vaccination on 18 January this year, one of the first countries in the region and so far more than 60 percent of the population above 18 years old received both doses. In a relatively short period of time we managed to create 13 new state hospitals with the total number of beds-almost 4,000. In general, 46 state hospitals have been allocated to treat pandemic. Now we don’t have a lockdown. The situation is under control," Azerbaijan's President said.
