Azerbaijan sets new fines for violation of legislation on political parties

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 16. New fines have been set in Azerbaijan for violating the legislation on political parties, Trend reports.

In this regard, President Ilham Aliyev signed the law on amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The change stipulates that for establishment or activity of political parties of foreign countries, as well as their subdivisions and organizations on the territory of Azerbaijan, individuals will be fined from 700 ($411) to 1,000 manat ($588), officials - from 1,500 ($882) to 2,000 manat ($1,176), legal entities - from 6,000 ($3,529) to 8,000 manat ($4,705).

For committing by the political party bodies (structural subdivisions), whose term of office has expired, any actions related to the activities of the party, including decision-making or signing documents, individuals will be fined from 700 ($411) to 1,000 manat ($588).

For failing to provide information on subsequent changes in the members' register of a political party to the body (structure) determined by the relevant executive authority within the period established by the Law on political parties, officials will be fined from 1,000 ($588) to 1,500 manat ($882), and legal entities - from 2,000 ($1,176) to 3,000 manat ($1,764).

A political party engaged in other types of entrepreneurial activity, except for the preparation and sale of socio-political publications, other propaganda and agitation materials, will be fined from 2 to 4 times the amount of damage (income received) as a result of the committed administrative offense.

For interference of a political party in the activity of state bodies (institutions), local government bodies, officials, as well as interference in entrepreneurial activity of persons, officials will be fined from 1,000 ($588) to 1,500 manat ($882), legal entities - from 3,000 ($1,764) to 5,000 manat ($2,941).

If a political party fails to provide information on signing an agreement with political parties of other countries or joining international unions of political parties to the body (structure) determined by the relevant executive authority within the period established by the Law on political parties, officials will be fined from 500 ($294) to 700 manat ($411) and legal entities from 1,500 ($882) to 2,000 manat ($1,176).

In case of a failure to return a donation accepted by a political party in violation of the requirements of the law on political parties within the term established by this law, in case of impossibility of its transfer to the state budget, a fine of 60 to 80 percent of the amount of the donation shall be imposed.
