BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 18. The Azerbaijani community in New York held a rally in front of the UN headquarters, Trend reports.

The rally was held against Armenia's attempt to once again turn the UN Security Council into an instrument of a political, military and information-oriented manipulation campaign.

During the protest, the slogans "We demand justice for the destruction of the ecological environment of Karabakh!", "We demand justice for the victims of mines!", "We demand justice for the Azerbaijani hostages!", "Release the Azerbaijani hostages!", "Stop environmental terrorism from Armenia!", "Armenian mines kill civilians!" were demonstrated.

The participants of the action called on the UN Security Council to move to practical activities - to protect the environment of the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, put an end to the ecocide of Armenia, provide international assistance in restoration work, ensure the safety of Azerbaijani citizens in Karabakh and protect human rights.

Local residents interested in the protest were provided with leaflets with information about the military and environmental crimes of Armenia.

Members of the Armenian community tried to commit provocations during the peaceful rally, but the participants of the rally prevented this provocation.

The members of the Coordinating Council of Azerbaijanis of the US also took part in the protest. The statements of the Coordinating Council and Diaspora organizations of the US on the support of Azerbaijan's peace efforts in the region were sent to the UN.

The UN Security Council has discussed the issue of tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. This step was included in the agenda at the request of Armenia and the initiative of France.
