Public control over the Azerbaijani army yields positive results.

"Public control over the army and intensive visits to military units decreased number of undesirable incidents," Azerbaijani Parliamentarian Ganira Pashayeva told Trend .

After revealing "dedovshchina" facts in the army, a group of public control over the army was formed in October 2008. This group comprises officials of NGOs, defense ministry and parliamentarians.

Public control group intensively visits military units and is interested in soldiers' life.

Earlier, Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova told Trend that she considers important to carry out public control over the army to prevent torture and "dedovshchina" cases.

Pashayeva said it is necessary to carry out public control over the army and this mission must always continue.

Azerbaijani members of parliament Aydin Mirzazade, Ganira Pashayeva, Bakhtiyar Aliyev, Aydin Hasanov, Bakhtiyar Sadigov, a group of media representatives and non-governmental organizations visited the areas near the contact line on April 23.
