FIG technical delegate: Baku has amazing organizational capabilities

Baku, Azerbaijan, July 21

By Anvar Mammadov – Trend:

Baku has amazing organizational capabilities, Daniela Delle Chiaie, technical delegate of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), told Trend July 21.

“Azerbaijan’s organizational capabilities are amazing and huge,” she said. “This applies to both technical and economic aspects as Azerbaijan invests in the development of sports, in particular, gymnastics.”

Delle Chiaie also pointed to the perfectly organized Baku 2015 First European Games and the 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe.

“I am sure that Azerbaijan is a perfect organizer of the events,” she said. “This gives FIG a reason to hold more competitions in Baku. Taking these points into account, I think the FIG will enable Baku to hold more competitions in the future.”

“The World Cup in Trampoline Gymnastics and the FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics, held in Baku, testify that the city is ready to host, firstly, the intercontinental rhythmic gymnastics judges courses in 2017, and secondly, the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in 2019, which gives licenses for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics,” she said.

Delle Chiaie added that the FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics is a very important competition.

The FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics will take place in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku on July 22-24, giving a unique opportunity to watch the performances of eminent gymnasts from 17 countries two weeks prior to the Rio Olympics.

Twenty-six gymnasts and 9 teams will compete for medals in the all-around on the first two days of competitions. Apparatus finals will be held on the event’s last day.

A magnificent opening ceremony, directed by the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team Mariana Vasileva, will be held on July 22, followed by the traditional Gala on July 24, as part of the FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Baku.
