BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. Another mass burial has been discovered in Azerbaijan's liberated Shusha city, Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) Sabina Aliyeva said in a statement, Trend reports.

According to her, one of the horrifying facts regarding the mass burial found in the sewage well of the former Shusha prison is the discovery of nails within the remains of six persons, indicating that these people were subjected to gruesome torture.

Aliyeva also pointed out that during the examination of the remains, evidence of gunshot wounds and blunt and sharp force trauma was identified, and skulls were found separately from the bodies.

"During Armenian occupation, Azerbaijani captives and hostages were subjected to torture on the territory of the Shusha prison, as confirmed by witness testimonies. Human remains were previously discovered on the prison's territory in June. These facts are another confirmation of Armenia's policy of hatred towards Azerbaijanis, its ruthless treatment of captives and hostages," the ombudsperson said.

"Unfortunately, due to the lack of international pressure and years of ongoing impunity, Armenia continues its unlawful activities. To divert the attention of the global community from its heinous deeds, it's attempting to promote false accusations against Azerbaijan," she said.

Besides, Aliyeva noted that overall, numerous mass graves have been discovered in the liberated territories.

Although, Armenia refuses to provide information about other locations of mass graves, Azerbaijan's relevant authorities continue to identify these sites and conduct appropriate examinations to determine the fate of nearly 4,000 Azerbaijanis who went missing during the first Karabakh war, the ombudsperson added.

She reminded that she has repeatedly raised the issue of the fate of missing Azerbaijanis with international organizations, and appealed to them to support Azerbaijan in addressing this matter and put an end to the long-standing suffering of families of the missing persons.

"Taking into account all of the above, I once again call on international organizations to react to these facts, take necessary measures to prevent the repetition of crimes driven by hatred, and urge Armenia to provide information about the Azerbaijanis who went missing," Aliyeva stated.

Additionally, the mass graves were previously discovered in the liberated villages of Sarijali (Aghdam district), Dashalti (Shusha district), Edilli (Khojavand district), Farrukh (Khojaly district), Yukhari Seyidahmadli (Fuzuli district), as well as Kalbajar, Aghdam, and other settlements.
