BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. Along with preparatory activities for the organization of the prestigious COP29 event to be held in Azerbaijan from November 11 through 22 this year, relevant initiatives are being implemented to draw public attention to current climate issues and environmental education with the participation of young people, Trend reports.

On June 14, on the eve of the beginning of the beach season, with the participation of members of the COP29 volunteer program, a coastal cleaning action called "Cleanmob" was organized at Shikhov Beach. The event was held as part of the social campaign "World Cleanliness Day".

However, the action, which was joined by more than 150 volunteers, was organized in a special competitive format, which serves to promote responsibility for environmental protection as well as the development of team spirit among volunteers. The winning team and its participants were awarded relevant certificates. 1501 kg of waste collected during the campaign was sent for recycling to ensure the recycling process followed environmental requirements and norms.

Following the clean-up action, ECO training and several other events on the topic of environmental protection were organized for COP29 volunteers.

The main objective of the action is to demonstrate the exemplary behavior of young people in promoting environmental and social responsibility by involving them in environmental protection, including seaside areas.

To note, such actions are more important than just cleaning up the coastline. Thus, uniting young people from different fields of activity around a common goal is a contribution to the development of the spirit of cooperation, the main condition for solving climate problems, as well as a contribution to achieving real results by uniting around the protection of the ecology of our planet.
