Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 November / Trend , corr. U.Ismayilova /Aydin Aliyev, the head of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, said that the illegal drug trafficking became more frequent for the last two years in the result of increase of production and export of drugs by Afghanistan, one of the main drugs suppliers.

"In January-November, about 290 kg of drugs was seized in the customs checkpoints of Azerbaijan, compared to two or three kilograms that had been seized fifteen years ago," Aliyev said.

The  increase of the index, according to Aliyev, is due to intensified activity of customs agencies and taken measures within the program to prevent illegal drug trafficking. The program is carried out jointly with the National Security Ministry and Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan.
