BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4. Cargo traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), including from China to Turkey, Azerbaijan and the countries of Southern Europe significantly grew from January through April 2022, Kazakhstan Railways NC (KTZ) JSC told Trend.

According to the company, this figure increased by 192 percent on annual basis.

TITR is a strategic direction in container transportation with the involvement of the Kazakh ports of Aktau and Kuryk, the JSC said.

"The TITR project is actively developing and has commercial attractiveness with competitive rates for container transportation in transit and export traffic to the ports of Georgia and Turkey," the JSC noted.

Besides, according to KTZ, in order to ensure further competitiveness and development of the transportation along the TITR route, relevant tariffs for 2022 have been approved.

The tariffs will be applied until the end of the year for container transportation of goods from China/Kazakhstan/Central Asian countries to Turkey, Romania, Ukraine, Poland and in the opposite direction using a feeder vessel and a ferry, as well as for carload transportation of goods along the TITR route, including transportation of coal, coke, sulfur, liquefied hydrocarbons, grain cargo, petrochemicals, non-ferrous metals, and others.
