Tehran, Iran, Aug. 8

By Mehdi Sepahvand – Trend:

Iran and South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) according to which the East Asian country will help Tehran with water and waste water management projects.

The agreement concerns the creation of smart urban water and waste water systems, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Energy Rahim Meydani said, Mehr news agency reported Aug. 8.

“We have made some progress in creating sewage treatment facilities which can provide good ground for cooperation with South Korea,” he stated.

As Iran is developing into an industrial country, there is concern about industrial pollution and agricultural waste water, the official noted.

He went on to note that one of the areas of cooperation with South Korea will be the Karun River in Khuzestan Province and a similar project in Gilan Province.
