Tbilisi City Court pardoned ex-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Nino Burjanadze's hudband, the former head of the Georgian Border Police Badri Bitsadze.
The court took the decision after the law enforcement authorities handed to courts the cases of the convicted being subjects to amnesty within the law "On amnesty" that came into force in Georgia on January 13, the lawyer of ex-head of the Border Police Levan Samushia informed journalists.
"The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia officially dropped charges against Bitsadze in organizing resistance to the police," Samushia said.
It should be noted that Bitsadze was absconding abroad within the last year and was wanted.
After the court decision the search for Bitsadze is canceled.
On August 19, 2011, Bitsadze was sentenced in absentia to 5.5 years in prison on charges of resisting police. He fled Georgia after the dissolution by the law enforcement bodies of the protests of the National Assembly on Rustaveli Avenue on the night of May 26, 2011.
