In the next five years, 13 projects for gold ingots production will be commissioned in Iran, said Vajihollah Jafari, CEO of the Iran Minerals Production and Supply Company (IMPASCO), Trend reports via the website of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

He said that with the commissioning of gold ingots production projects, gold production will reach 23 tons by the end of the first quarter of 2023.

Jafari added that Iran has the potential to produce 15 tons of gold ingots. However, due to mining or technology problems, only 8 tons of gold ingots are produced.

He noted that new steps have been taken to restore, activate and develop small mines in cooperation with investors.

He expressed hope that funds will be ensured for exploration, operation and processing in the gold mining sector with the help of the government and investors.

He noted that exploration operations to produce 1 ton of gold ingots required $6.1 million (13 percent of the cost of each gold ingot) during the past five years.
