Iranian and German companies sat down for the development of a smart power grid for the city of Tehran.

The sides also discussed the construction of cogeneration or combined heat and power (CHP) plants, Fars news agency reported Oct. 4.

The power plant under discussion is a diesel CHP with a to-be output of 13 megawatts.

Selling the output heat of the power plant will improve its output from 40 to 80 percent.

The meeting was held during a German delegation’s visit to Iran. Germany and Iran signed a range of business deals in what is expected to take economic relations between the two countries to a new level.

The German Economy Ministry announced in a statement that several Mittelstand firms, the small-to-medium-sized companies that form the backbone of the economy, had signed deals with their Iranian partners during a landmark visit to Tehran by Vice Chancellor and Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel.
