TEHRAN, Iran, August 26. Iran is planning to expand its petrochemical industry and increase export to $18 billion in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022), said the Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company Morteza Shahmirzaei, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Iran's petrochemical industry currently has the highest added value in the production chain, he said during the inauguration of the PDH project in the Persian Gulf Bidboland Gas Refining Company.
The production capacity of Iran's petrochemical industry is 90 million tons per year, and the country plans to cut reliance on the import of propylene by increasing domestic production.
Iran's outlook is predicted production of 13 million tons of propylene in the next ten years, the current annual propylene production capacity is one million tons.
The operation of the PDH project for propylene production from propane with an annual capacity of 450,000 tons will begin soon and the Persian Gulf Bidboland Gas Refining Company plans to complete the PP production chain.
