The Communist Party of Nepal ( Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) on Sunday afternoon decided to pull out from the five-member coalition government, Xinhua reported.
At a emergency meeting, the Standing Committee of CPN-UML, the second largest coalition partner, has decided to quit the government and withdraw its support to the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (UCPN-M)-led government following UCPN-M's unilateral decision of sacking Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Rookmangud Katawal.
"Party took the conclusion to quit the coalition government disagreeing the decision made by UPN-M which was taken alone without other political parties consensus," the CPN-UML Central Committee member Thakur Gaire told Xinhua on Sunday over telephone.
According to him, the meeting of the Standing Committee in the capital Kathmandu also discussed future plan.
"The discussion is going on about how to move ahead and the possibility of forming a new government," said Gaire.
Marking the UCPN-M move of sacking CoAS as "plan to capture the power by attacking democratic institution", CPN-UML meeting has also decided to foil such a plan and to protest against the unilateral decision of the UCPN-M.
