Azerbaijani deputies not to review gun issue

Members of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan will not raise again the issue of providing them with gun for their security.

"There is a reliable security system in the Parliament, and therefore no serious danger is expected," chairman of the Ana Vatan party deputy Fazail Agamali told Trend .

An armed man attacked Building 2 of the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy at early morning today. According to preliminary reports, the armed man killed 12 and wounded 13. The joint statement by the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor General's Office said the attack was committed by 29-year-old Georgian citizen Gadirov Farda Asad oglu by Makarov revolver.

Three cartridge-belts with capacity of 40 bullets and 71 bullets and two magazines were seized from the body of the killer.

A suit has been filed on murder for hooliganism purposes (120.2.2), brutal murder (120.2.4), murdering more than one people (120.2.7), and an attempt of murder (29, 120.2.7) and illegal storing of arms (228.1). 

Twenty-six-year-old Nadir Aliyev who was arrested as a suspected person on May 1 is Farda Gadirov's countryman. He has had close contacts with Gadirov.

Agamali said there was not a necessity to exaggerate the incident that took place at the Oil Academy and say that similar incident may take plce at any university of the country.

"We are living in a stable country. Law enforcement bodies provide us with reliable security," he added.

"The issue to provide gun to deputies was reportedly raised in the Parliament, but rejected. There is no need to raise this issue once again," chairman of the Great Establishment Party Deputy Fazil Mustafa told Trend .

The security of the population is more relevant than that of deputies, he added.
