Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov gave specific instructions to the government to "ensure the highest efficiency and effectiveness of the" coming 10th meeting of the Joint Committee of the European Union - Turkmenistan in Brussels on June 4, the Foreign Ministry press service reported.
Foreign Minister, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Rashid Meredov will head the delegation of Turkmenistan, with which Europe sees the opportunity to reduce energy dependence on supplies from Russia, through the implementation of an alternative gas pipeline Nabucco from the Caspian region.
Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry announced that a joint summit has become one of the key on the agenda of the last meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, chaired by the head of state.
Berdymuhamedov said that the forthcoming meeting in Brussels will take place during a significant increase cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union, which is developing in such promising areas as energy, transport, communications, and communications, trade, culture and education.
Ashkhabad believes the cooperation with European countries is mutually beneficial and equitable, is mutual desire to further diversify and saturation of a new practical content.
A constructive dialogue was held during Berdymuhamedov's visit to Brussels in 2007, which resulted in fundamental agreement on the key long-term partnership.

In this context, the president of Turkmenistan said that the forthcoming meeting of the Joint Committee of the European Union-Turkmenistan "is intended to consolidate the positive dynamics of partnership and identify areas for further collaboration.
Noting the importance of the forthcoming meeting to be an important step towards a dynamic collaboration between Turkmenistan and countries of the European Community, Berdymuhamedov said that the partnership with the EU is one of the highest priorities of state policy and is based both on the enormous potential of this cooperation, as well as the mutual interest in its effective implementation.
