Azerbaijan Consul General: No Azerbaijanis Detained in St. Petersburg to Be Further Deported

Gudsi Osmanov, the Consul General of Azerbaijan to Saint Petersburg, informed Trend that no Azerbaijani has been detained in the City to be further deported.

According to him, after the new migration bill was put into force in Russia, none of our compatriots have been deported from the Russian Northern Capital. In Saint Petersburg, according to the bill, those people who fall under the article on deportation from Russia are usually kept in special points for interim detention. After the new bill was put into practice, no Azerbaijani has been sent there. All the authorities were given to the local police. I officially addressed these bodies. I asked them to inform the Azerbaijan General Consulate if Azerbaijanis are kept in the points for interim detention. No Azerbaijani has been registered there yet. Azerbaijanis themselves do their best to not pass much time in the street. Moreover, despite of the fact that the new bill was put into force in Russia, no mechanism on the realization has been known yet. The judicial aspect of the issue вЂ" how to deport illegal migrants has not been elaborated either, said Mr. Osmanov.
