The educational institutions of Azerbaijan will teach subjects on the prevention of spread of AIDS infection (Acquired immune deficiency syndrome) caused by human immunodeficiency virus, chairman of the parliamentary committee on science and education Shamsaddin Hajiyev said Thursday at a meeting of the committee.
"According to the amendments and changes to the law on combating infection with human immunodeficiency virus and in order to increase knowledge of students on prevention of immunodeficiency virus and sexually transmitted infections, the teaching program will include a separate section," said Hajiyev.
After discussion, the bill was recommended for consideration at the plenary session of the Parliament.
Over 11 months of 2010, 409 persons have been identified with AIDS in Azerbaijan, of whom 398 were citizens of Azerbaijan, 11 people - foreigners.
