Iran sees increase in tire production

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 17

The statistics show the production of 87,724 tons of car tires from the beginning of the current Iranian year (started on March 21) to the end of July, which means 4 percent growth compared to the same period last year.

The highest production rate in the mentioned period was for passenger car tires with 50,187 tons (57.2 percent of the total production) and 6,963,737 tires (86.5 percent of total production), which means an increase of one percent in terms of weight, Trend reports citing IRNA.

In the first four months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), 9,216 tons of van tires (with 25 percent growth compared to the same period last year) and 18,888 tons of freight and bus tires (with 12 percent growth) were also produced by domestic companies.

The statistics also show a 26 percent drop in the production of light agricultural car tires. While the heavy agricultural car tire production experienced a 6 percent increase.

According to the statistics, by the end of July, 5,894 tons of bicycle and motorcycle tires (with the growth of 27 percent compared to last year), 3,317 tons of tubes (9 percent growth), and 2,400 tons of flaps, conveyor belts, hoses, etc. were produced in the country.

According to IRNA, in recent months, the COVID-19 imposed a negative impact on transportation and has led to a decrease in the consumption of tires in the country.

Meanwhile, domestic factories are pursuing plans to increase production.
