At present, almost all organizations of the Azerbaijan State Railway Company use the card system. Elmar Sadikhov, Director General of the Processing Centre Azericard, said that the installation of POS-terminals in the railway stations will allow transfer of payments for railway fare to pay by the means of cards.
This process will be carried out by two banks IBA (International Bank of Azerbaijan) and Bank of Azerbaijan. According to Mr. Sadikhov, chip cards that will allow paying public utilities, taxes, custom duties will be used. IBA has launched the installation of POS-terminals in the petrol stations as well.
IBA has already acquired 5000 POS-terminals within the order of the President concerning measures aimed at transferring to cashless settlement. Bank of Azerbaijan has also acquired 2000 POS-terminals, 500 out of them are considered for Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. According to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Country, actions are commissioned to be speed up all over the country. In Baku, this process is going much faster in the capital. The installation works on POS-terminals are at the expense of the banks, i.e. the trade networks do not bear expenses. At the same time, the bank faces such problems like trade putlets` disagreeing with installing them. At present, the Bank is continuing to carry out works with its clients, as well as conclude deals and agreements.
