Iran may increase oil, gas extraction

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jun. 7

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran may increase oil and gas extraction to the maximum with its existing potential, Former Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Javad Owji said, Trend reports citing Tasnim news agency.

According to Owji, Iran can make maximum use of its joint fields with other countries, make maximum use of gas pipelines, as well as make maximum use of gas pressure stations.

“In addition, Iran currently has 60 gas fields. About 47-48 of them have been developed or are being developed,” he added.

The former director noted that the rest fields remain undeveloped. The gas pressure of each gas field decreases by 50-70 PSI per year.

Owji emphasized that taking into account Iran's gas extraction from the South Pars gas field, the pressure in the field decreases every year. Accordingly, the field must be equipped with systems to increase the pressure on the platforms.
