The Parliament of Georgia is considering amendments to the country's budget for 2020, according to which it is planned to reduce funding for the presidential administration, government administration and parliament in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, Trend reports referring to the government administration.
According to the amendments, the budget of the presidential administration will decrease by 750,000 lari ($251,636), while financing the administration of the Georgian government and the parliament will decrease by 1 million lari ($0.34) and 4 million lari ($1.34), respectively.
As for ministries, the budget of Ministry of Finance will also decrease by 12 million lari ($4.07 million), Ministry of Economy – by 26.6 million lari ($9.02 million), Ministry of Infrastructure – by 251.3 million lari ($85.2 million), Ministry of Health - by 1.5 million lari ($509,120), Ministry of Foreign Affairs – by 3 million lari ($1.01 million), Ministry of Defense – by 75 million lari ($25.4 million), Ministry of Internal Affairs – by 10 million lari ($3.3 million), Ministry of Agriculture – by 15.1 million lari ($5.09 million), Ministry of Education – by 127.7 million lari ($43.3 million).
Since the beginning of March, budget expenditures have been significantly limited and work has begun to free up financial resources.
As a result, 600 million lari ($203.6 million) in the consolidated budget was freed up, which is reflected in the draft budget amendments.
According to the bill, primary current expenditures have reduced by 199.6 million lari ($67.7 million), while capital expenditures were reduced by 347.5 million lari ($117.9 million).
On the other hand, primary current expenditures for the pandemic increased by 1.87 billion lari ($634.7 million); capital expenditures - by 123.8 million lari ($42.01 million); debt service and repayment - by 42 million lari ($14.2 million).
As a result state, budget allocations increase by 1.49 billion lari ($505.7 million) to 15.92 billion lari ($5.4 billion).
