Uzbekistan’s number of users of remote banking services increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24

The number of users of remote banking services in Uzbekistan as of June 1, 2021 exceeded 16 million people, which is 5.8 million (56.9 percent) more than as of June 1, 2020, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Central Bank.

During the first five months of this year, 911 trillion soums ($86.2 billion) passed through the banking system of Uzbekistan, which is 60 percent more than the same period last year.

In addition, the number of installed ATMs and self-service kiosks in Uzbekistan reached 12,217 units, exceeding last year's figures as of June 1 by 1,370 units or 13 percent.

Earlier, it was reported that 30 out of 32 banks operating in Uzbekistan have increased the number of plastic cards. According to the bank, the total number of plastic cards in circulation in Uzbekistan as of July 1 reached 23.8 million, which is almost 640,000 cards more than a month ago.

The CBU said that most of all new cards were opened by the Uzbek people in the Iranian Saderat bank.
