By Huseyn Valiyev – Trend:

The Republican Seismic Survey Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) has begun to use the resources of the Azerbaijani communication satellite Azerspace-1 for data transmission, a source in the Republican Seismic Survey Center told Trend.

According to the source, the resources of the US satellite Delta were previously used for this purpose.

"Presently, about 60 seismic stations are used in Azerbaijan, 14 of which have been recently installed by US experts within the big depth research project, to be implemented until 2020. All stations are connected to a satellite system."

The head station is located in Baku. Real-time information is regularly sent from vibration sensors installed in seismically active areas in Azerbaijan via satellite. After data processing, the system gives information about the exact epicenter of the earthquake, time and magnitude.
