Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade has stressed the importance of holding consultations with Iran on various regional and international developments.
In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in the Senegalese capital of Dakar on Sunday, Wade called for more cooperation with Iran in automaking industry in Senegal with, Press TV reported.
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, said Senegal plays a leading role in West Africa and praised the country's efforts to establish peace and stability and resolve crises in this region.
Mottaki submitted the written message of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to his Senegalese counterpart.
Meanwhile, in a separate meeting between the Iranian foreign minister and his Senegalese counterpart Madicke Niang, Mottaki expressed Tehran's readiness to expand cooperation with Dakar.
For his part, Senegal's foreign minister said certain countries which are not happy with amicable relations between Tehran and Dakar are trying to put obstacles on path of their mutual ties.
However, Senegal would remain committed to its undertakings support for the Islamic Republic, he pointed out.
The two foreign ministers exchanged views on ways to promote bilateral ties as well as the latest regional and international issues.
