US authorities have arrested a man in Baltimore, Maryland who was allegedly plotting to blow up a military recruitment center with a car bomb, Press TV reported.
"There was no actual danger to the public as the explosives were inert and the suspect had been carefully monitored by law enforcement for months," Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd said in a statement.
There is no evidence of a link between this case and prior attacks on US military recruitment posts, the statement added.
Officials claim that the suspect, 21-year-old Antonio Martinez, had converted to Islam. He is a US national of Nicaraguan descent.
Martinez is due to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon.
