The Iranian Parliament is neither going to pass nor to reject the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Chairman of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said.

"The Parliament will rather pass red lines as a necessity and allow the government to implement its agreement with the P5+ 1," he told al-Alam TV channel Sept. 20.

The Special Commission on the JCPOA that is tasked with professionally evaluating the deal will finish its mission Sept. 21 he added.

The JCPOA will then be put to vote in an open session of the Parliament in a few days, he stated.

In answer to a question regarding Iran 's adoption of the Additional Protocol to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, Boroujerdi pointed out that since the adoption has been mentioned in the JCPOA, once the Parliament okays the deal, it would have also okay the Additional Protocol.

However, he noted, if the opposite side to the deal violates the terms of the agreement, Iran will stop implementing the Additional Protocol.

The JCOPA was reached between Tehran and the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) on July 14. It curbs Iran's nuclear program in return for lifting economic sanctions.

The Iranian Parliament said the government could not implement the deal unless the legislative body okayed it. The move came after US congressmen said the Obama administration was bound to following a Congress say on the deal.
