BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Azerbaijan, by liberating Karabakh from Armenian occupation received impetus to development of agriculture, Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said, Trend reports.
He made the remark on May 6 in Baku, at an international conference on agriculture digitalization, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture with the support of FAO.
"The occupation of Karabakh by Armenia led to the decline of agricultural sector in this region," Babayev said.
The minister noted the presence of great potential for development of agriculture in Azerbaijan’s liberated lands.
Azerbaijan will restore this important sector for country, Babayev said, adding that Azerbaijan has set the task of making Karabakh a zone of zero emissions.
Azerbaijan is taking steps to create "green" economy, eco-friendly villages and cities, he said.
Minister also added that cooperation with FAO has already brought significant results, and expressed hope for continued productive cooperation in the future.
