The Georgia Defense Ministry's official named reports on discussions to open two U.S. military bases in Georgia as false.

"This is absolutely absurd and nonsense, because these issues have not been discussed during the U.S. Land Forces Commander Carter Ham to Tbilisi," the Defense Ministry's Press Secretary Nana Intskirveli told Trend.

Unofficial sources in Georgia stated that Ham's visit to Georgia focused on discussions to place two U.S. military bases in Georgia. Particularly, the matter was about airfield in Marneuli and Navy base in Poti port.

"The discussed issues during Ham's visit were placed in the ministry's Website. I can say that the visit focused on cooperation and holding training," the press secretary said.
