By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:
The problems of cybersecurity of the industrial control systems are being investigated in Azerbaijan, Head of the department of the Institute of Information Technologies of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Yadigar Imamverdiyev said, Trend reports.
Imamverdiyev made the speech at an online seminar on the ’Analysis of cybersecurity problems in industrial control systems’.
Informing the relevant government agencies about cybersecurity problems in some countries is mandatory by law, and special Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) teams, specializing specifically in the analysis of cybersecurity problems, have been established, he said.
“All this once again underlines the relevance of ensuring cybersecurity in industrial control systems. Currently, numerous industrial control systems that ensure the life of society are an easy target for cybercriminals and become the most vulnerable objects from the point of view of cybersecurity as they integrate into the virtual environment,” Imamverdiyev said.
The head added that given the expansion of the use of industrial technologies in the Azerbaijani economy, the protection of such systems from possible cyber attacks is of strategic importance.
Scientific and practical research on solving cybersecurity problems in industrial control systems is expanding around the world, he noted.
“The main areas of research are the development of approaches to the assessment, monitoring and audit of cybersecurity in these systems, the development and application of reliable methods of authentication and secure communication, the development of methods for detecting and analyzing software with a virus, development of technologies for detecting and preventing targeted attacks, development of research methodologies, educational and certification test benches for cybersecurity of industrial control systems,” Imamverdiyev emphasized.
