BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 28. Azerbaijan has set a forecast of 5.7 billion manat ($3.3 billion) for the current year in the revenue part of the state budget on customs revenues, Chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan Shahin Baghirov said within Trend News Agency's "Relevant with Sahil Karimli" project.
"Currently, the state budget has already received more than 6 billion manat ($3.5 billion), which in turn marks a record figure in the history of the country," he said.
Revenues to the state budget of Azerbaijan through the State Customs Committee (SCC) increased by 12.36 percent from January through November 2023 year-on-year and amounted to 5.7 billion manat ($3.3 billion).
"It is already the end of the year and we have reached this goal. More than 6 billion manat ($3.5 billion) has been transferred to the state budget. This is quite a good figure," he emphasized.
According to him, this positive result is related to the economic conditions created in Azerbaijan, investment climate, growth of import-export operations and other reasons.
"We have successfully realized a number of tasks from the beginning of 2023 until now. Our main area of activity is the economy, where we are engaged in forming the revenue part of the state budget through customs regulation of import and export operations. We are also actively involved in other areas of the economy, creating conditions for added value: production capacity development, processing of raw materials, registration of import and export of products. Our economic activities include a wide range of tasks, and we are confident that we have made significant progress in 2023 and will continue to do so," Shahin Baghirov said.
"In addition to economic activities, we actively carry out activities to protect society from external influences such as smuggling, import of substandard products. We also attach importance to environmental protection. One of our key areas is also the preservation of exemplary cultural heritage and works of art. In other words, our work covers many areas. We have defined a program of action and specific measures for each direction in 2023," he noted.
Baghirov mentioned the need to pay special attention to an issue that is the basis of Azerbaijan's policy to build productive force through a more stable economy - the creation of conditions for an entrepreneurial environment in the economic sphere.
Revenues from customs duties to the state budget increased by 18.58 percent (234.2 million manat or $137.7 million) from January through November 2023 year-on-year and amounted to 1.4 billion manat ($823.5 million).
In turn, the revenues from VAT amounted to 3.9 billion manat ($2.2 billion) from January through November 2023 (up by 9.84 percent year-on-year), from excise tax - 205.9 million manat or $121.1 million (up by 37.44 percent), from road tax - 39.2 million manat ($23 million).
Revenues to the state budget of Azerbaijan through the SCC increased by 30.21 percent in 2022 year-on-year - up to 5.6 billion manat ($3.2 billion).
