Russian Internal Ministry Decides to Escort Passenger Trains Going Through  North Caucasus

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Aliyev / The Internal Affairs Department at the Russian Internal Ministry of the North Caucasus and Trans-Volga Region made the decision to escort all passenger trains going via the territory and to send additional defence forces to Artezian station, according to information distributed by the Azerbaijani Internal Ministry and Prosecutor General Office.

Some 60 people armed with cutting tools attacked passenger train-373/374 going from Baku to Tyumen at Artezian Station (North-Caucasus Railways) of the Republic of Kalmykia ( Russian Federation) on 26 October. As a result, 25 people were injured, a spokesman for the Azerbaijani State Railway, Nadir Azmammadov, reported.

A criminal case has been filed for contravening Articles 213 (hooliganism), 214 (vandalism) and 318 (resistance to state representatives) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation at the Russian Prosecutors Office.

Azerbaijani human rights bodies have offered to help Russia in their investigation.

The Azerbaijani State Subway reinforced defence measures in trains going via the territory of Russia.
