In Jan.-Apr., transport means and physical person of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic conveyed 2.7 million tons of cargo and16.6 million passengers, NAP permanent representative office in Baku said. The rise of cargo transport was 9.4 percent and passenger conveyance 7.9 percent.
The revenues from both services totaled 9.1 million manat, a rise of 7.4 percent from the same period of 2008.
About 99.7 percent of cargo transport (2.7 million ton) and 95.5 percent of passenger conveyance (15.8 million people) accounted for private sector.
According to the State Statistics Committee, Azerbaijan's transport sector transported 57.2 million tons of various types of cargo in Jan.-Apr. 2009, a rise of 1.8 percent from 2008. About 413 million people were conveyed by passenger transport, a rise of 7.7 percent from the same period of 2008.
