American company McDonald`s will build a distribution centre in Azerbaijan, director of McDonald`s Azerbaijan Magsud Mirzoyev said.
"We're going to invest about $4.5 million out of $7.5 million for construction of a distribution center in Azerbaijan", Mirzoyev said.
According to him, the center will also be equipped with a bakery, which will be baked bakery products in accordance with company standards and eliminate the need to import from Ukraine.
"Company has received a license for construction of the center. Company's management is expected to visit Azerbaijan in the end of this month to become familiar with the situation in the local market," Mirzoyev said.
McDonald `s can play an important role in creating a strong infrastructure, which will include, along with the development of a network of restaurants, and the infrastructure of suppliers and manufacturers of agricultural products in Aezrbaijan.
There is one farm Agroyurd in Absheron, which meets all international standards and supplies its products to McDonald `s Azerbaijan. However, negotiations are holding with other manufacturers, which could potentially produce the necessary products for McDonald `s in Azerbaijan.
The capacity of the farm Agroyurd insufficient to supply goods to Georgia, Russia, but geographical, climatic conditions allows Azerbaijan to expand or build facilities for future deliveries. The farm is the best one given salads of Iceberg among the Commonwealth of Independent States, the company said.
McDonald `s Azerbaijan began its activities in 1999. Currently the company has five restaurants based in Baku. The company invested about $7 million in Azerbaijan for ten years.
