Uzbekistan leads on the growth rate of the trade and economic cooperation with China among the Central Asia countries, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan Zhang Wei said.

He said according to the Chinese side, the total amount of Chinese-Uzbek trade and economic cooperation in 2009 increased by 20 percent (according to Uzbek statistics - 36 per cent) and reached $1.91 billion. While Chinese export grew by 22 per cent - to $1.56 billion, import - by 6.2 percent to $ 350 million.

According to Chinese diplomat, Chinese-Uzbek relations are developing dynamically and have a tendency to deepen ties virtually on the entire spectrum of bilateral interaction.

Zhang Wei emphasized that Uzbekistan's active position within the activity of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and upcoming the SCO member states' summit to be held in Tashkent in June 2010 gives cause for even more profound and closer bilateral relations and expand cooperation with other member countries of this international integration organization.

Despite the fact that the agenda of upcoming, the tenth, anniversary summit in Tashkent has only being agreed, but it is already clear that it will be one of the most important events within the SCO, which will emphasize development prospects of the organization and discuss the urgent issues of regional and international cooperation, Zhang Wei added.
