Licensing of construction work approved in Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamadow has approved the position on the licensing of construction work, official Turkmen sources said on Monday.

Turkmen Ministry of Construction jointly with the Ministry of Jurisdiction was assigned a month to prepare and present to the Cabinet of Ministers a suggestion on entering changes and additions to the legislation.

Also approved was the position on the licensing of the production of building materials, products and designs. In all, documents were adopted in accordance with the law on licensing of various kinds of activity.

The construction industry in Turkmenistan is one of the main sections of the country's economy with work on most facilities being carried out by foreign construction companies.

At the moment, in Turkmenistan around 2100 facilities are being built at a total cost of $32.3 billion. GDP growth in the area of construction is increasing. In the construction area in 2010, 120 facilities and production buildings and those of a socio-cultural designation were built at a total cost of $4.4 billion. In 2011 the majority of facilities at a total cost of seven billion dollars were constructed and went into operation
