Kazakh ArcelorMittal Aktau plans to increase production of steel pipes up to 60,000 tonnes in the next four years, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to the company's CEO Zhenis Utegenov said.

"Production is planned at 20,500 tonnes in 2014, but in the next four years we plan to increase production to the maximum - 60,000 tonnes," Utegenov said at the road show of ArcelorMittal Temirtau and ArcelorMittal Aktau in Astana.

The company is also ready to increase production in order to meet the requirements of certain pipeline projects, he said.

"The two-or threefold increase in production could be achieved with relatively small investment," Utegenov said.

ArcelorMittal Aktau also plans to open a warehouse in the city of Karaganda in March 2014 for consumers in that region.

It is the only manufacturer of large diameter steel pipes in Kazakhstan, which specializes in the manufacturing of steel, oil, and gas pipes, as well as water sluices, heating and slurry pipelines and cuttings ditch used in the mining industry.
