DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 29. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide a new trade finance limit of $1 million to Tajikistan’s HUMO microlender, Trend reports.
According to the bank, the agreement was sealed following negotiations during President Odile Renaud-Basso's visit to Tajikistan.
The finance limit was provided under the EBRD's Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP), aiming to bolster HUMO's trade-finance endeavors.
Aligned with the EBRD's strategic goal of fostering interregional trade and collaboration, the deal will enable local enterprises to import essential goods, services, and equipment while facilitating the export of their products.
The current project portfolio of the EBRD in Tajikistan amounted to 507 million euros as of February 29, 2024, for the completion of 72 active projects. In 2020, the EBRD invested 131 million euros in Tajikistan's projects, followed by 56 million euros in 2021 and 21 million euros both in 2022 and 2023. Overall, the EBRD allocated 947 million euros for 168 projects across the country.
