BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. The loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks increased by 20.28 percent as of March 31, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, and reached 24.1 billion manat ($14.1 billion), Trend reports.
According to the data of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks amounted to 20 billion manat ($11.7 billion) as of March 31, 2023.
The share of business loans amounted to 54.78 percent (13.2 billion manat ($7.7 billion), year-on-year growth of 20.33 percent), consumer loans - 29.62 percent (7.1 billion manat ($4.1 billion), year-on-year growth by 20.18 percent), mortgage loans - 15.6 percent (3.7 billion manat ($2.1 billion), year-on-year growth by 20.33 percent) in the structure of the bank's loan portfolio.
Meanwhile, as of December 31, 2023, the loan portfolio of Azerbaijani banks grew by 18.32 percent compared to the same period in 2022 and reached 23.1 billion manat ($13.5 billion).
To note, as of December 31, 2023, the total assets of banks in Azerbaijan exceeded 49.1 billion manat ($28.8 billion), total liabilities - 43.1 billion manat ($25.3 billion), and total capital - 6 billion manat ($3.5 billion). According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, compared to the same period in 2022, assets, liabilities as well as capital of the banking sector increased by 4.5; 4.1, and 7.8 percent respectively.
