BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. Azerbaijan exported over 1.65 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye from January through February this year, 2.4 percent less than the same period in 2023, Trend reports via the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
Of this volume, 775.76 million cubic meters occurred in February, down 4.9 percent year-on-year.
The EPDK's data shows that Azerbaijan accounted for 14.5 percent of all gas supplies to Türkiye during the reporting period.
In February, Azerbaijan ranked third in terms of gas supply volumes to Türkiye, behind Russia (49.8 percent of all supplies) and the United States (15.2 percent), but ahead of Algeria (12.2 percent).
Overall, gas exports to Türkiye in February amounted to 5.3 billion cubic meters (a decrease of 11.22 percent compared to February 2023), of which 3.67 billion cubic meters fell on pipeline gas (from Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran), with a growth rate of 16.79 percent.
To note, as EPDK data shows, Azerbaijan exported 10.25 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye in 2023 (a 17.8 percent increase compared to 2022).
Türkiye has been purchasing gas from Azerbaijan since 2007. The source of the gas is the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea.
