BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. A total of eight oil wells have been drilled and improved in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 2024) in the National Company of Iran's Southern Oil Zones, deputy general manager of the National Mining Company of Iran Masoud Afshar said, Trend reports.
According to him, the total depth of the excavation was 8,598 meters.
Afshar added that seven wells are intended for production, and one well has been handed over to South Oil Zones Company as part of the implementation of projects.
The official noted that in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), the National Mining Company will use all its capabilities in the framework of implementing the development plans of Iran's national oil company to maintain and increase oil and gas production.
To note, the National Company Southern Oil Zones of Iran, affiliated with the National Oil Company of Iran, owns 45 large and small hydrocarbon fields in an area of 400,000 km2 from the Iranian province of Bushehr to the northern province of Khuzestan. About 80 percent of Iran's crude oil and 16 percent of its gas are produced in the territories of this company.
