ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 30. The total volume of Singaporean investments in the economy of Kazakhstan amounted to $1.4 billion, said the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports.
He made the remark during a meeting with a Singapore parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Seah Kian Peng.
"Today, there are more than 140 Singaporean companies and joint ventures operating in Kazakhstan, with the total investment in the Kazakhstan economy exceeding $1.4 billion," he said.
According to him, Kazakhstan and Singapore are reliable, time-tested partners.
"Much has already been done to strengthen our ties, but at the same time, we set ourselves high goals for the further development of our cooperation," Tokayev noted.
In Tokayev's view, parliamentary diplomacy plays a vital role in strengthening international cooperation and promoting dialogue between countries.
In turn, Seah Kian Peng noted the huge potential for deepening cooperation between countries.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to the prospects for economic and investment cooperation.
The parties also discussed issues on the regional and international agenda.
Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Singapore amounted to $1.78 billion in 2023. The structure of trade turnover is dominated by Kazakhstani exports to Singapore (1.7 billion), while imports from Singapore to Kazakhstan amounted to $80 million.
