BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. The capital of Austria, Vienna, will host the European Silk Road Summit on November 27–28, the central theme of which will be the development of the Middle Corridor and the integration of European states into it, Trend reports.
The meeting is organized by European companies InterRail, RTSB Group, Metrans, and Trans Container Delo Group.
"On the first day of the event, participants will visit the cargo terminal at Dunajska Streda.
On the second day, there will be discussions on the topic of Central Europe taking a position on the Silk Road. Also among the topics are transportation of dangerous goods, temperature-controlled cargo, and rail-barge combinations. Separate discussions will take place on “Germany on the New Silk Road.
The summit will gather several hundred specialists, mainly in the field of rail transportation, in particular from the countries participating in the Middle Corridor," the information on the event mentioned.
The website notes that “together with logistics providers, shippers, carriers, consultants, academics, and policymakers, the latest developments on the New Silk Road will be discussed."
Meanwhile, since the beginning of this year, the EU has raised the degree of attention to the Middle Corridor as part of the New Silk Road.
The EU approved 10 billion euros for the development of the route in January 2024.
To note, the Middle Corridor celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2024. Cargo traffic along it has grown manifold in recent years.
