Turkmenistan has become one of the biggest suppliers of polymer products to Russia, Trend reports referring to the Turkmengas state concern, citing the data of the Russian Federal Customs Service.

Thus, plastic products ranks first in the list of goods imported from Turkmenistan. The total cost of polymers supplied to the Russian Federation from Turkmenistan in January-March 2019 is more than $18 million, which is 78 percent more than a year earlier.

Russian entrepreneurs mainly purchase high-density polyethylene through the Turkmen State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange for the production of pipes used for transporting water and gas.

Moreover, demand for polypropylene is still high. Turkmenistan has been recently leading in supplying this type of polymer to the Russian market. Turkmenistan is ahead of such countries as Germany, South Korea, Finland, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Austria, Uzbekistan, Italy, the Netherlands and China.

Not only the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries, but also the polymer plant in Kiyanly settlement, successfully compete with the world's leading polypropylene producers.

The total volume of export of various types of oil products from Turkmenistan to Russia reached $465,400 in January-March 2019, which is over 1.5 times more than in 2017.
